Purpose of Voluntary Youth Support Worker Post
To work as part of the Detached Youth Work Project team to support a programme of activities with young people aged 10-18 in the Brownlow area.
What is Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project?
Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project works with young people aged 10 – 18 years who do not use the current youth and community provision on a street setting.
Mission Statement
“We will actively promote the social inclusion of young people aged 10-18 by addressing the needs of these young people and their communities.”
This will be achieved through:
- • Combating social exclusion,
- • Addressing the needs of young people,
- • Giving young people a voice,
- • Providing needs led personal and social development programmes,
- • Offering a pro-active and re-active supported detached youth work service,
- • Responding to local community needs;
- • Promoting good relations
What can I expect from Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project?
- • To be provided with comprehensive training relevant to the position
- • To receive support/supervision on ongoing basis from Line Manager
- • To be supervised and supported by youth worker at all times when on nightly sessions.
- • To be included in team meetings and other meetings that the Coordinator deem relevant.
What can I expect from Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project?
- • Attend a one hour team meeting weekly with other team members
- • Attend at least 1 four hour nightly Youth Support Worker session weekly
- • Agree to Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project’s Policies and Procedures at all times

- • To be able to work as part of a team
- • A willingness to be creative, flexible and imaginative in their approach to working with young people
