AARDVERK training was a great success

Joanne Shortall (Rank Youth Development Officer) organised a training day for all the staff and management committee from Drumgor Detached Youth Work Project in Drumellan community centre. The aim and objectives of the team building exercise were to recognise yourself, recognise yourself as a leader and how you work in teams that you lead.

Each team were invited to prove their skills for a very lucrative youth work contract. In order to get the contract the teams had to prove to the Aardverk team that they can meet the following criteria:

  1. To complete the whole project in the time available.
  2. To demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
  3. To show an ability to use the skills of everyone in the team.
  4. The work must be of high quality and well presented.
  5. To make a profit of £6000.

The Aardverk team then assessed all the work carried out by the teams and paid them accordingly if they met the criteria. There were also bonus points or deductions for good or bad work. Alicia and Declan earned both teams bonus points by EATING a worm.

The staff wont find out who the winners are until the Christmas dinner but we have been told there was only £20difference between the teams. The team building training proved to be a great success as all the staff and management committee really enjoyed it.

Photos to follow.

Ghost Walk was a great success

The young people involved had a really great night and the feedback we got was brilliant. Check out some of our photos but you can view all the photos on our Facebook page.
